Look beneath the recurring conflict.

The argument may be about time, chores, intimacy, or communication. Underneath it, one or both of you may feel alone, dismissed, or unsure that you matter to the other person.

We explore the cycle you get caught in: what each of you feels, how you respond, and how those responses affect your partner. The goal is to understand the relationship with enough clarity that new choices become possible.

A thoughtful process for both partners.

I’m Rob LeLaurin, LCPC, CSAT. My work with couples draws on emotionally focused and Gottman-informed approaches, alongside attention to attachment and personal history. Sessions balance understanding with direct attention to what needs to change.

The early process generally includes an initial joint session, individual meetings with each partner, and a feedback session to discuss themes and direction. We will explain the structure and relevant confidentiality policies before starting.

When unwanted sexual behaviors or pornography have affected trust, we can discuss what support each person needs and whether couples work is appropriate at this stage.

Questions before you begin.

Do we need to be in a crisis?

No. You can seek support for persistent disconnection, difficult transitions, or patterns you want to address before they become more entrenched. We will clarify each partner’s goals.

How do online sessions work?

All sessions are currently held through secure telehealth. I work with couples in Chicago and throughout Illinois. We will discuss a private setting and whether you will join together or from separate locations.

What does couples therapy cost?

The current private-pay fee is $225 per session. Insurance coverage depends on your plan and the services provided; it is not guaranteed. See insurance and fees for details.

When betrayal is part of the story.

After infidelity or hidden sexual behavior, partners may need different kinds of support. Couples work focuses on what is happening between you; individual betrayal trauma therapy gives the person whose trust was broken room to focus on their own needs. Work on unwanted sexual behaviors has its own goals.

We will discuss readiness for joint work, therapeutic roles, and whether separate clinicians are appropriate. Reconciliation is not assumed. The initial consultation helps clarify the support you are seeking.
