Far More Therapy · Chicago & online across Illinois

Trauma therapy in Chicago.

The past does not always feel like the past. It can show up in how you react, how close you let people get, or how safe you feel being yourself.

Therapy can help you make sense of those patterns at a pace that respects your experience.

Your responses have a context.

You may feel on edge, shut down during conflict, or become overwhelmed by situations other people seem to handle easily. You may understand your history intellectually while still feeling its effects in everyday life.

I work with adults navigating childhood and developmental trauma, relational wounds, and religious or spiritual trauma. We do not have to minimize what happened—or force your story into a label—to take its impact seriously.

Safety and choice are part of the work.

I’m Rob LeLaurin, LCPC, CSAT. My approach is informed by trauma, attachment, and the ways people learn to survive difficult circumstances. We begin by understanding what helps you feel grounded and what you want from therapy.

We may explore how earlier experiences shape your present relationships, build ways to respond when emotions become overwhelming, and work with beliefs about yourself that developed in painful circumstances. The approach and pace are collaborative.

My training includes EMDR trauma therapy and other approaches described on my About page. We will discuss which methods, if any, fit your needs rather than assuming one technique is right for everyone.

You do not have to tell everything at once.

Will I need to describe painful experiences immediately?

No. A first conversation can focus on what is affecting you now and what would help you feel comfortable starting. You can ask questions and discuss the pace before going further.
