Support for the person whose trust was broken.

Discovering an affair, hidden pornography use, or a pattern of deception can change how you understand your relationship. You might replay conversations, look for missing information, or feel pulled between wanting closeness and needing distance. Some days you may feel angry; on others, numb or unsure what to believe.

Therapy can be a place to talk about that experience without being asked to minimize it. You do not have to arrive knowing whether you want to stay in the relationship. Your partner does not need to attend for you to seek individual support.

Your needs can have their own space.

I’m Rob LeLaurin, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and Certified Sex Addiction Therapist. At Far More Therapy, my work attends to relational wounds and the patterns surrounding unwanted sexual behaviors. In individual therapy after betrayal, the focus is on your experience and goals.

We may work on finding steadier ways to respond to distress, clarifying boundaries, and making sense of changes in how you see yourself or your relationship. We can also discuss what information and support would help you make decisions. The pace is collaborative; you will not be pushed toward forgiveness or reconciliation.

If earlier experiences are also being stirred up, we can consider trauma-focused work. If you want faith included, faith-informed therapy offers room for spiritual questions without prescribed conclusions.

Individual support and couples work serve different purposes.

Individual therapy gives you room to focus on your needs. Couples therapy involves both partners and focuses on the relationship. We will discuss whether joint work is appropriate, including the circumstances around safety, ongoing deception, and each partner’s goals.

My role and confidentiality policies will be clarified before treatment begins. If separate clinicians would better support each person, we can discuss that. A partner seeking help changing their own behavior can read about pornography and sex addiction therapy.

Questions about getting started.

Do I have to decide whether to stay before starting?

No. You can seek support while you are uncertain. We can explore your needs and options without treating either staying or leaving as the assumed goal.

Is betrayal trauma a diagnosis I need to have?

No. The phrase describes an experience of distress after a violation of trust; you do not need a particular diagnosis to request a consultation. We will discuss your individual assessment and treatment needs.

Can I work with you from Chicago or elsewhere in Illinois?

Yes. Far More Therapy offers online sessions to adults located in Chicago and across Illinois. There are no in-person appointments. We will discuss whether telehealth and my approach fit your circumstances.

Can we start if my partner will not participate?

You can request individual therapy on your own. A consultation helps clarify the kind of support you are seeking and whether I am an appropriate fit.

You deserve room to find your footing.

You can begin with what is affecting you now. You do not need to share your full story in the inquiry form.
